Frequently asked questions
Straight answers on URL tracking, privacy, and how Sleekly keeps your shares clean without turning your links into a paper trail.
What does Sleekly remove from a URL?
Sleekly strips tracking and clutter parameters that platforms append when you copy links — for example utm_* campaign tags, Meta identifiers like fbclid, Instagram sharing tokens such as igsh, and similar surveillance or attribution debris. You get a shorter, cleaner link that looks professional when you share it.
Does Sleekly store or log the links I paste?
No. Sleekly is built around a stateless workflow: your URL is processed and not retained as a history of what you submitted. We do not run Sleekly as a personal URL archive — the goal is cleanup and privacy, not tracking what you clean.
Why would I remove UTM and other tracking parameters?
UTM parameters tell analytics tools where traffic came from; other IDs tie clicks to ads and profiles. Removing them reduces how much third parties can correlate your shares and browsing. Cleaning is especially useful when sharing in messages, decks, or public posts where you want a tidy link and less passive telemetry.
What is “Support Creators” and how does it affect links?
When Support Creators is on, Sleekly aims to preserve established affiliate or creator attribution tags (for example known Amazon tag parameters) so creators still get credit, while stripping unrelated tracking noise. When it is off, secondary tracking-oriented parameters are removed more aggressively.
Do I need an account to use Sleekly?
No account is required. Paste a link, clean it, and copy the result — no signup wall and no profile tied to your usage.
What does Sleekly mean by a privacy-first design?
Sleekly is oriented toward minimizing data collection: we are not building a dossier on you from the links you clean. Combined with stripping URL-based trackers, that reduces what you leak to advertisers and platforms when you share a link. For full detail, see our privacy policy.
Which kinds of links does Sleekly work with?
Sleekly targets everyday sharing links — social posts, storefronts, articles, and more — wherever platforms append long query strings. Rules evolve as trackers change; if something looks off after cleaning, double-check the destination before you share.
